La Tuna y Los Titanes

The seaside resort of La Tuna is 65.5 km from Montevideo in the district of Canelones and can be reached via the Interbalnearia (motorway). La Tuna is separated with the neighboring Los Titanes only by a road and therefore usually called in one breath. Access from the motorway is via Avenida General Artigas.
The streets of the seaside resort are surrounded by the trees and the gardens of the houses, creating a wonderfully green ambience. The owners of the holiday homes are mostly from Montevideo. Location

La Tuna is strategically located to reach many of Uruguay 's interesting places in less than an hour by car: Montevideo with its seaport and Carrasco Airport, Piriapolis, Punta del Este, Faro de San Ignacio, Sierra de Minas etc .

The Beach

Excursions - Hiking

Night Fishing

History of La Tuna

It is said that in 1917, a so-called Rafael of Montevideo was appointed as coastguard who set up the first buildings. In the street Tapes almost Chanaes, a first ranch of stones was built and in the street Minuanos near the coast one of straw and sheet metal.
In the beginning, La Tuna was rural and attracted more and more settlers who set up summer camps. After the land was allocated and sold, and means of transport made it easier for the people of Montevideo to come here, they began to build well-equipped houses.
To this day, La Tuna remains a small town and retains some characteristics of its origin. According to the census of 2011, about 200 people are permanently living there today.
